AN ACT TO CREATE THE OFFENSE OF LOOKOUT FOR DRUG SALES; TO PRESCRIBE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Any person who shall serve as a lookout for any sale of controlled substances in order to warn any person selling controlled substances of the appearance or approach of law enforcement shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be punished by imprisonment for up to five (5) years or by a fine of up to Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) or both.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
