AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT ALL SWORN OFFICERS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY MUST BE AWARDED ANNIVERSARY DATE INCREASES IN BASE PAY IN A CERTAIN AMOUNT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) In addition to the compensation provided for under the Colonel Guy Groff Variable Compensation Plan, all sworn officers within the Department of Public Safety must be awarded anniversary date increases in base pay, beginning July 1, 2001, as follows:

Years as Sworn Officer Within Increase

the Department of Public Safety in Base Pay

4 $500.00

8 $750.00

12 $750.00

(2) The Commissioner of Public Safety shall affect equity salary adjustments for those officers currently meeting the above requirements.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
