House Bill 1047

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT CERTAIN PERSONS OWNING TIMER BUT NOT CERTIFIED BY CORPORATE INITIATIVES MAY SELL THEIR TIMBER WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Even though a person is not certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative or any other corporate initiative and such person owns his own land and timber, no corporate entity domiciled in Mississippi shall restrict such person's right to sell the timber to any subcontractor or restrict the purchase by contract written by a corporate entity domiciled in the State of Mississippi.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
