House Bill 203

AN ACT TO REQUIRE SELLERS OR PROVIDERS OF WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SERVICE TO DISCLOSE THE EXTENT AND AVAILABILITY OF SUCH SERVICE THROUGHOUT THE STATE; TO PROVIDE A CIVIL FINE FOR VIOLATIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Any seller or provider of wireless telecommunication service in the state shall disclose to all prospective buyers the extent of such service in the state. In advertising such service the seller or provider shall include a caveat that coverage may not yet be available throughout the state if such statewide service is not available. Any person who violates this section shall be subject to a civil fine of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00).

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2001.
