AN ACT TO CREATE A NEW CODE SECTION TO BE CODIFIED AS SECTION 3-3-15.1, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REESTABLISH AND DESCRIBE AS THE OFFICIAL FLAG OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI THAT FLAG WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED AS THE STATE FLAG BY THE STATE CONVENTION ON JANUARY 26, 1861; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following shall be codified as Section 3-3-15.1, Mississippi Code of 1972:

3-3-15.1. That flag of the State of Mississippi, as established by the people of Mississippi in convention assembled on January 26, 1861, is reestablished as the official flag of the State of Mississippi, being more particularly described as follows: The flag of the State of Mississippi shall have a white ground, a Magnolia tree in the center, and a blue field in the upper left hand corner with a white star in the center. The flag shall be finished with a red border and shall have a red fringe at the extremity of the flag.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
