AMENDMENT No. 1 PROPOSED TO
Senate Bill NO. 2443

Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
SECTION 1. Chapter 861, Local and Private Laws of 1990, is amended as follows:
Section 1. (1) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (2) of this section, the governing authorities of the City of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to contribute to the Hattiesburg Area Education Foundation, out of any available funds, annually, an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00).
(2) Beginning with the effective date of Senate Bill No. 2443, 2000 Regular Session, the governing authorities of the City of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to contribute to the Hattiesburg Area Education Foundation, out of any available funds, an amount not to exceed Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) during the calendar year 2000.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 861, LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 1990, TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF HATTIESBURG, MISSISSIPPI, TO INCREASE ITS ANNUAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE HATTIESBURG AREA EDUCATION FOUNDATION DURING CALENDAR YEAR 2000; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
