A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MS. GISELLE RUSSELL FOR HER OUTSTANDING WORK IN DEFEATING LEGISLATIVE TERM LIMITS IN MISSISSIPPI.

WHEREAS, Ms. Giselle Russell, currently President of Strategics, Inc., has dedicated her career to enhancing the economic growth and development potential of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Russell has provided strategic marketing, issues management and political consulting services to meet this vision of growth and enhancement; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Russell has donated her political consulting skills over the years to protect Mississippi voters' rights; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Russell donated her political consulting skills in 1999 to successfully defeat the proposed legislative term limits initiative; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Russell organized, managed and coordinated the first successful statewide grassroots campaign in the United States to defeat proposed legislative term limits; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Russell created the first successful media campaign in the nation to defeat proposed term limits; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Russell's drive and determination led to the first successful defeat of proposed legislative term limits in United States history; and

WHEREAS, Mississippi gained national attention as the first state to successfully defeat proposed legislative term limits; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend the noteworthy accomplishments of the citizens of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Giselle Russell for donating her time and her skills to successfully defeat legislative term limits, and extend to her our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Ms. Giselle Russell.
