A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE WEST LAUDERDALE HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 2000 SEASON.

WHEREAS, the West Lauderdale High School Soccer Team finished the 2000 season by winning the Class 1, 2 and 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the West Lauderdale "Knights" have won the Division 4 Championships in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000, and were runners-up for the 1999 State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the West Lauderdale High School Soccer Team was created in 1994 and, since that time, has achieved an overall record of 96 wins and 20 losses; and

WHEREAS, the West Lauderdale "Knights" have been superbly coached and inspired by Coach Alex George, who has broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the team roster is as follows: Josh Murphy, Tanner Gullette, Chris McWilliams, Todd Doolittle, Kris Shaulis, Mike Smith, Justin Daniels, Brandon Rodgers, Will Moseley, C.J. Fountain, Barry Westbrook, David Jeter, Matt Vaughn, Chris Isom, Brandon Adams, Jay Everett, Brent Doolittle, Tyler Skelton, Clay Logan and Jack Threadgill; and

WHEREAS, the "Knights" have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to West Lauderdale High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the West Lauderdale High School Soccer Team for its outstanding 2000 season.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to West Lauderdale High School and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
