A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AUGUSTA DORSEY BALLARD FOR HER MANY YEARS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE.

WHEREAS, Augusta Dorsey Ballard, a native of Cannonsburg in Jefferson County, Mississippi, has dedicated many years in the service of her community; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ballard is a graduate of Jefferson County Training School, Okalona Junior College and Mississippi Valley State University; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ballard was the first African-American city clerk for the City of Fayette, Mississippi, and served in that capacity for over thirty years; and

WHEREAS, She has been an active member of the Fayette Community Garden Club, the Jefferson County Democratic Women's Organization and many other civic and community organizations; and

WHEREAS, She is a deaconess of the Bethlehem M.B. Church where she also serves as superintendent of the Sunday school program; and

WHEREAS, her dedicated community service has served as an inspiration to all who encounter her:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Augusta Dorsey Ballard for her many years of outstanding community service.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Augusta Dorsey Ballard.
