A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING HESS M. ROBERTSON, A SOPHOMORE AT MOSS POINT HIGH SCHOOL, UPON HIS RECEIPT OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD.

WHEREAS, Hess M. Robertson, a sophomore at Moss Point High School, is receiving the Eagle Scout Award in ceremonies on Sunday, January 23, 2000; and

WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout Award is the highest ranking awarded by The Boy Scouts of America, and is the culmination of many years of dedicated work in the scouting program by the recipient; and

WHEREAS, Hess is a multi-talented student athlete at Moss Point High School, where he is a member of the Moss Point High School Football and Baseball teams, a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a member of Mu Alpha Theta (the Math Honor Society); and

WHEREAS, as a special project, Hess was awarded a grant by Chevron Oil Company to build and place bat boxes at strategic locations around Moss Point to help decrease the mosquito population; and

WHEREAS, Hess has also received the Order of the Arrow, which is the prestigious honor earned by the most dedicated of scouting program participants; and

WHEREAS, Hess' parents, Kenneth Ray and Lisa Hawley Robertson, and his sister Hawley Rae, are justifiably proud of this young man, who has brought honor to his family, his school and to his community:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That with great pride we do hereby commend and congratulate Hess M. Robertson, a sophomore at Moss Point High School, upon his receipt of the prestigious Eagle Scout Award, and wish him success in his future scholastic, athletic and scouting endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Hess Robertson and his family and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
