A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY AS BETTER SPEECH AND HEARING MONTH.

WHEREAS, audiologists and speech-language pathologists in Mississippi observe and celebrate Better Hearing and Speech Month each year during the month of May; and

WHEREAS, Mississippi recognizes and values the efforts of all who work to eliminate or minimize the isolating effects of communication disorders in the one-in-ten families affected by them; and

WHEREAS, many Mississippians have overcome their communication disabilities through the services of dedicated audiologists and speech-language pathologists; and

WHEREAS, audiology and speech-language pathology services throughout our nation help to enable and empower individuals with communication disorders to lead independent, productive and fulfilling lives; and

WHEREAS, Mississippi is proud and honored to have more than 900 audiologists and speech-language pathologists offering quality education and health care services to its citizens:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby proclaim the month of May as Better Hearing and Speech Month, and we encourage all citizens to recognize the achievements of audiologists and speech-language pathologists in improving the quality of life for people with communication disorders.
