Senate Concurrent Resolution 628

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SCOTT CENTRAL ATTENDANCE CENTER "REBELS" FOOTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 1999 1A STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Scott Central Attendance Center "Rebels" Football Team completed its 1999 season with a dominating 13 and 1 record culminated with the Class 1A Football Championship; and

WHEREAS, on the road to the state championship, the Rebels won the Division 5 Championship and the South State Regional Championship; and

WHEREAS, this championship squad includes many outstanding players, including Lewis Bradford, who will participate in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game, and John Carl Riser, who will participate in the Mississippi North/South All-Star Game; and

WHEREAS, Scott Central was led by Coach Mickey Bounds, who will coach the Mississippi team in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game, and Assistant Coaches Will Boswell and Mike Hendershot, who molded this group of young men into a championship unit; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the accomplishments of this team of student athletes, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Scott Central "Rebels" Football Team for winning the 1999 1A State Football Championship, and wish them continued success in their future athletic and scholastic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Mickey Bounds on behalf of the team and the Principal of Scott Central, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
