A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY LADY STATESMEN BASKETBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON.

WHEREAS, the Delta State Lady Statesmen finished the season with a phenomenal record of 29 wins and only 3 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Delta State Lady Statesmen won the overall Gulf South Conference Title; and

WHEREAS, this conference title marked the 2nd straight conference championship won by the Lady Statesmen; and

WHEREAS, the Delta State Lady Statesmen won the NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament; and

WHEREAS, this victory marked the 10th NCAA Division II South Regional Title captured by the Lady Statesmen; and

WHEREAS, the Delta State Lady Statesmen made their 10th appearance in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Delta State Lady Statesmen brought recognition and honor to their university, their community and to the State of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize the noteworthy achievements of the student athletes of the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Delta State University Lady Statesmen Basketball Team for its outstanding season.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Delta State University Lady Statesmen Basketball Team.
