A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING NATCHEZ'S TIMMY FOSTER FOR WINNING THE NFL GATORADE PUNT, PASS AND KICK NATIONAL FINALS IN THE BOYS 10-11 DIVISION.
WHEREAS, prior to the Jacksonville Jaguars v. Miami Dolphins NFL-AFC Playoff Game at Jacksonville, Florida's ALLTEL Stadium, Natchez's Timmy Foster captured his own championship, winning the NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass and Kick National Finals in the boys 10-11 division; and
WHEREAS, Timmy is a 5-foot-4, 125-pound sixth grader at Adams County Christian School, who advanced to the finals by winning separate competitions at the local, sectional and regional events, the final of which was held at the Louisiana Superdome prior to a New Orleans Saints game; and
WHEREAS, Timmy went first in his division, and finished with a total composite score of 278.1, which was less than his 322.7 winning score in New Orleans (the scores are based on distance minus accuracy in feet); and
WHEREAS, his score was actually the third highest in the entire competition, and for his accomplishment, Timmy won a large wooden football trophy on a wooden tee with the Punt, Pass and Kick logo; and
WHEREAS, he said that advancing to the finals was a major highlight, but still was second to playing for the state finals in the Dixie Youth 9-10 division in Biloxi, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Timmy Foster's parents are Tim Foster, Sr., and Angie Foster of Natchez, and it is with great pride that we recognize the accomplishments of this outstanding young athlete who has brought honor to his school, his community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Timmy Foster, Jr., of Natchez, Mississippi, for winning the NFL's National Punt, Pass and Kick Competition for 10-11 year-old boys, and wish him continued success in his future scholastic and athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Timmy Foster and his family, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
