A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING JACK FRENCH UPON BEING NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR AND FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CAREER.

WHEREAS, Jack French is the coach of the Forest High School Bearcats football team; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his outstanding coaching abilities and unparalleled accomplishments of his Forest High School football teams, Coach French was named the state Coach of the Year in 1999 by the Mississippi Association of Coaches; and

WHEREAS, Coach French was also selected on the 3A coaching staff of the year in 1999 by the Mississippi Association of Coaches; and

WHEREAS, in the 13 years at Forest High School, Coach French has compiled an impressive record of 120 wins, 33 losses and 2 ties; and

WHEREAS, Coach French has won 3 state championships, making the playoffs in 11 of his 13 years; and

WHEREAS, Coach French's teams have won the division 8 times; and

WHEREAS, under Coach French's leadership, his teams won a phenomenal 32 division games in a row from 1992 to 1996; and

WHEREAS, Coach French was named on the division coaching staff of the year 9 times; and

WHEREAS, Jack French was selected as the state Coach of the Year in 1993 by The Clarion-Ledger; and

WHEREAS, Jack French is held in high regard by his coaching peers, as evidenced by his selection to serve as President of the Mississippi Association of Coaches in 1996-1997; and

WHEREAS, Jack French's commitment to excellence and dedication to students have earned him the respect and admiration of students, faculty and parents in the Forest community; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize the noteworthy accomplishment of Mississippians; and

WHEREAS, it is most appropriate to pay special recognition to Coach Jack French for his outstanding example of a person who has devoted his life to being a leader and a role model to the youth of our state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Coach Jack French of Forest High School for his exemplary career and upon being named state Coach of the Year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Jack French and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
