A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE FOREST HIGH SCHOOL BEARCATS FOOTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE STATE CLASS 3A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP AND BEING THE NO. 1 RANKED FOOTBALL TEAM IN CLASS 3A.

WHEREAS, the Forest High School Bearcats football team won the 1999 State Class 3A Football Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Forest Bearcats finished the season as the No. 1 football team in the State of Mississippi in Class 3A; and

WHEREAS, in the Bearcats' march to the championship, the team rallied to come from behind in the last three play-off games, including the championship game; and

WHEREAS, the Bearcats finished with a record of 12 wins and 2 losses; and

WHEREAS, the tenacious defense of the Bearcats shut out five opponents; and

WHEREAS, the resiliency and tenacity shown by the Bearcats are characteristic of championship teams; and

WHEREAS, the Bearcats were superbly coached and led by Head Coach Jack French and Assistant Coaches Kevin Worrell, Don Stokes, Allan Atkison, Tommy Davis, Roy Pinkston and Tim White; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to commend meritorious accomplishments, especially when achieved by the youth of the state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend the Forest High School Bearcats football team for winning the 1999 State Class 3A Football Championship and being the No. 1 ranked football team in Class 3A.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to the Forest High School Bearcats football team.
