AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF OLIVE BRANCH, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE AN AMOUNT NOT EXCEEDING $200,000.00 TO THE HISTORIC DESOTO FOUNDATION, INC.; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The governing authorities of Olive Branch, Mississippi, may contribute during calendar year 2000, from any available funds, a sum of money not exceeding Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) to the Historic DeSoto Foundation, Inc. The funds shall be used for the establishment of a public museum in DeSoto County which shall include, but is not limited to, the acquisition of land, construction of a museum on the land, retirement of debt and the operation and maintenance of the museum facility and exhibitions in the facility.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
