AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO PROVIDE OVERTIME COMPENSATION FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS OF THE MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY SAFETY PATROL; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The Commissioner of Public Safety, in his discretion, is hereby authorized to provide overtime compensation for law enforcement officers of the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol. Such compensation shall not exceed the rate of time and a half, and shall be in addition to the regular compensation otherwise payable to such officers.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
