AN ACT TO FULLY IMPLEMENT THE STATEWIDE PUBLIC DEFENDER SYSTEM ACT OF 1998; TO REPEAL SECTION 21, CHAPTER 575, LAWS OF 1998; TO AMEND THE EFFECTIVE DATE IN SECTION 22, CHAPTER 575, LAWS OF 1998; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 21, Chapter 575, Laws of 1998, which provides that all new programs authorized under Senate Bill No. 2239, 1998 Regular Session, shall be subject to the availability of funds specifically appropriated therefor, is repealed.

SECTION 2. Section 22, Chapter 565, Laws of 1998, is amended as follows:

Section 22. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
