Senate Bill 2541

AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF STATE GENERAL FUNDS TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSES OF DISTRICT ATTORNEYS AND ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OF THE STATE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2000.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. In addition to all others sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of district attorneys and assistant district attorneys of the state, for the fiscal year ending

June 30, 2000 $ 734,923.00.

SECTION 2. The funds appropriated under the provisions of Section 1 are allocated for the following purposes:

(a) Salaries and expenses of District Attorneys,

Assistant District Attorneys and Criminal

Investigators..................$ 731,301.00.

(b) Tort Claims Assessment.........$ 3,622.00.

Total..........................$ 734,923.00.

SECTION 3. This additional appropriation is made for the purpose of paying for salary increases for Criminal Investigators as authorized in Senate Bill No. 2479, 1999 Regular Session; Paying for an additional Legal Assistant for the Second Circuit Court District as authorized by House Bill No. 771, 1999 Regular Session; Paying the increases in state health insurance premiums, workers' compensation rate and FICA ceiling for District Attorneys' salaries; and for the increase in the Tort Claims Fund assessment for fiscal year 2000.

SECTION 4. The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 5. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
