AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 61-13-19, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION TO IMPOSE AN ADMINISTRATIVE FINE ON ANY PERSON WHO VIOLATES THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS GOVERNING THE USE OF STATE AIRCRAFT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 61-13-19, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

61-13-19. (1) Any violation of the provisions of this chapter shall be punishable upon conviction by a fine of not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00).

(2) In addition to, or in lieu of, the criminal penalties provided in subsection (1), the Executive Director of the Department of Finance and Administration is authorized to impose, upon notice and hearing, an administrative fine in an amount not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per violation upon any person who violates the provisions of this chapter or the department's policy/procedure manual.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
