AN ACT TO PROHIBIT CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18 FROM ATTENDING GUN SHOWS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) For the purposes of this section, a "gun show" is an event or function sponsored by any individual or corporation or any national, state or local organization that is devoted to the collection, competitive use, or other sporting use of firearms, or an organization that sponsors functions devoted to the collection, competitive use, or other sporting use of firearms in the community.

(2) It shall be unlawful for any child under the age of eighteen (18) to attend any gun show.

(3) Violation of this section shall constitute a misdemeanor for any adult who permits such violation, and an act of delinquency for any child over the age of thirteen (13) who is found to be in attendance at a gun show.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
