House Resolution 27

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PETAL HIGH SCHOOL SHOW CHOIRS FOR THEIR MANY OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING THE 1999-2000 SCHOOL YEAR.

WHEREAS, the Petal High School Show Choirs consists of "The Innovations," a girls show choir, and "The Soundsations," a mixed show choir; and

WHEREAS, "The Innovations" won many honors and competitions including First Place in the Mississippi Show Choir Contest, Second Place in the Music City Show Shoppe in Nashville, Tennessee, and Third Place at the Showstoppers International Show Choir Competition in Orlando, Florida; and

WHEREAS, "The Soundsations" have been recognized for their talents by being selected as the Grand Champions at the Terpsichore National Show Choir Competition in New York City including Best Vocals, Best Band, Best Technical Crew and Best Show Design; winning First Place and Best Choreography in the Music City Show Shoppe in Nashville, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, several of the show choir members have been recognized for their exceptional talent and chosen to participate in the 1999-2000 All-State Show Choir including, Drew Breland, Zack Breland, Ashley Henderson, Drew Hicks, Robyn Holmes, Chad King, Michelle Long, Kristen Mitchell, Blake Nagy and Daniel Tynes; and

WHEREAS, the Petal High School Show Choirs are directed by Gail McInnis and assisted by Kim Malone, who have broadened the students knowledge of music and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidence by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Petal High School Show Choirs, Director Gail McInnis and Assistant Director Kim Malone for their outstanding accomplishments during the 1999-2000 school year and extend heartiest wishes for all their future academic and musical endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Petal High School, Director Gail McInnis, Assistant Director Kim Malone and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
