A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ST. MARTIN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS FOR WINNING THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AT WALT DISNEY WORLD.

WHEREAS, the St. Martin Junior High School Cheerleaders participated in Walt Disney World's Contest of Champions on February 27, 2000, winning their fourth National Championship in six years; and

WHEREAS, the St. Martin Junior High School Cheerleaders competed against nearly 4,500 squad members from 71 junior high schools across the nation; and

WHEREAS, the 19-member cheerleading squad includes Jessica Bennett, Saybhr Cailavett, Haley Chadick, Veronice Gant, Rochelle Gautreaux, Hillary Hawthorne, Amber Hegwood, Cassie Holland, Megan Humphrey, Brittany Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Lea Locke, Marissa Malagarie, Jenny Moates, Amanda Parker, Jessica Polite, Cherie Sigurnjak, Jaimie Wilkerson and Emaly Williams; and

WHEREAS, the St. Martin Junior High School Cheerleaders have been superbly coached and inspired by Coach Dina Holland, who has broadened the cheerleaders knowledge of competition and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the St. Martin Junior High School Cheerleaders developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to St. Martin Junior High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend and congratulate the St. Martin Junior High School Cheerleaders and Coach Dina Holland for winning the National Championship at Walt Disney World's Contest of Champions on February 27, 2000, and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to St. Martin Junior High School, Coach Dina Holland and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
