A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL "JAGUARS" FOOTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE STATE 5A CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Madison Central High School "Jaguars" Football Team completed the 1999 season with a perfect 15-0 record and won the State 5A Championship on statewide television; and

WHEREAS, the Jaguars were ranked No. 1 in the Jackson Clarion-Ledger Super 10 Poll and were ranked 13th in the nation by the USA Today High School Football Poll; and

WHEREAS, in addition to the State Championship, this football team won the District 6, Division 4, Class 5A Championship Tournament and the North-Half 5A Regional Championship Tournament; and

WHEREAS, this remarkable season was truly a team effort, with equal contributions by 85 uniformed players, 12 coaches, 20 cheerleaders, 2 mascots, 7 trainers and managers, 100 bandsmen and many, many supporters; and

WHEREAS, through tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors, the Jaguars have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of this state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Madison Central High School "Jaguars" Football Team for winning the State 5A High School Championship, and extend our heartiest wishes for success in all their future academic and athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Coach Mike Justice, Madison Central High School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
