A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MR. ESTEAM HILL AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

WHEREAS, Mr. Esteam Hill departed this life on February 27, 2000, causing great loss to his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hill, son of Spencer and Suguella Hill, was born the sixth of thirteen children on August 12, 1914, in Silver Creek, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hill attended the Silver Creek School System and joined the United States Army in 1944, where he served his country until January 10, 1946; and

WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. Hill, a former baseball player for the Negro Baseball League, was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for 56 years, where he served as president of the Senior Choir, a member of the finance committee, a Deacon and a member of the Board of Trustees; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hill was married to the former Callie Chester, and from that union five children were born; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his full-time job at Hercules, Mr. Hill worked part time as a painter, landscaper, carpenter and taxicab driver; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize outstanding Mississippians such as Mr. Esteam Hill, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life of Mr. Esteam Hill and express our deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Esteam Hill and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
