AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM TRUST FUND TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING AND RENOVATING THE OFFICE BUILDING LOCATED AT 301 NORTH PRESIDENT STREET IN JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, FOR FISCAL YEARS 2000 AND 2001.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of the Public Employees' Retirement System Trust Fund to the Board of Trustees of the Public Employees' Retirement System for the period beginning upon the passage of this act and ending June 30, 2001 $950,000.00.

SECTION 2. The funds appropriated by this act are for the purpose of purchasing and renovating the existing office building located at 301 North President Street in Jackson, Mississippi. Those funds may be expended for that purpose only if the Public Employees' Retirement System can secure a long-term lease for the building from either the State Legislature or an agency of state government.

SECTION 3. The funds appropriated by this act shall be deposited into the Public Employees' Retirement System Building Fund established in Section 3 of House Bill No. 773, 2000 Regular Session. All expenditures of the funds appropriated by this act in the Public Employees' Retirement System Building Fund shall be made by the Board of Trustees of the Public Employees' Retirement System only for the purposes specified in Section 2 of this act.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
