AN ACT TO DESIGNATE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY I-20 WITHIN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AS THE "31ST INFANTRY, DIXIE DIVISION MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"; TO DESIGNATE A CERTAIN PORTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 61 AS THE "MISSISSIPPI CAVALRY, 1ST REGIMENT MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) That portion of Interstate I-20 within the State of Mississippi shall be known as the "31st Infantry, Dixie Division Memorial Highway."

(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching such highway.

SECTION 2. (1) That portion of U.S. Highway 61 beginning at the Mississippi/Louisiana state line and extending northerly to the city limits of Vicksburg shall be known as the "Mississippi Cavalry, 1st Regiment Memorial Highway."

(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching such highway.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
