AN ACT TO DESIGNATE A CERTAIN PORTION OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 490 IN WINSTON COUNTY AS THE "JOE CLAY - JOHN AUSTIN HATCHER MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"; TO DESIGNATE A PORTION OF U.S. INTERSTATE 20 WITHIN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AS THE "31ST INFANTRY DIVISION MEMORIAL HIGHWAY"; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) That portion of Mississippi Highway 490 in Winston County beginning at the Noxapater city limits and extending easterly to its intersection with Mississippi Highway 397 is designated and shall be known as the "Joe Clay - John Austin Hatcher Memorial Highway."

(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs at the eastern city limits of the City of Noxapater and at the intersection of Mississippi Highway 490 and Mississippi Highway 397 indicating the name of the highway segment described in subsection (1) of this section.

SECTION 2. (1) That portion of U.S. Interstate 20 within the State of Mississippi beginning at the Warren/Hinds County line and ending with the Mississippi/Louisiana state line shall be known as the "31st Infantry Division Memorial Highway."

(2) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching such highway.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
