AN ACT TO ESTABLISH AN ANNUAL SALARY FOR THE SPOUSE OF THE GOVERNOR; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The spouse of the Governor of the State of Mississippi shall receive an annual salary in an amount equal to one-half (1/2) of the annual salary fixed for the Governor under Section 25-3-31. This salary shall be compensation for the spouse's fulfillment of the duties inherent upon the Governor's spouse and for official services rendered on behalf of the State of Mississippi in the capacity of spouse of the Governor.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
