AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT AN ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORD OR MEDICAL ORDER CONTAINING AN ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE IS CONSIDERED TO BE SIGNED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. An electronic medical record or medical order containing an electronic signature is considered to be signed as a matter of law, if the electronic signature is affixed or verified in conformity with a reasonable security procedure for the purpose of verification of electronic signatures.

SECTION 2. Section 1 of this act shall be codified in Chapter 9, Title 41, Mississippi Code of 1972.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
