AN ACT TO PROVIDE PREFERENCE STATUS FOR CASES INVOLVING DISPUTES OVER AD VALOREM TAXES BY TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANIES AND OTHER PUBLIC UTILITIES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Any case involving a dispute over ad valorem taxes by a telecommunication company or any other public utility company shall have preference status in the courts of this state. Any such cases shall be heard and brought to final conclusion before any other cases on the court docket. The provisions of this section shall apply to all courts in the state.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
