AN ACT TO PROVIDE FUNDS TO EACH RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT AREA IN THE STATE FOR THE PURCHASE OF DRY HYDRANTS FOR RURAL FIRE PROTECTION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The state shall provide funds to each resource conservation and development area in the state for the purchase of two (2) dry hydrants per area. For purposes of this section, "dry hydrant" means a nonpressurized pipe system permanently installed in existing lakes, ponds and streams that provides a means of suction supply of water to a fire department's tanker trucks.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
