House Bill 957

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, TO ERECT AND MAINTAIN SIGNS ON AND ALONG THE RIGHTS-OF-WAY OF STATE HIGHWAYS INDICATING DIRECTIONS TO OR THE LOCATION OF CHURCHES, SYNAGOGUES, TEMPLES OR OTHER ESTABLISHED PLACES OF WORSHIP; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The Mississippi Department of Transportation is authorized to erect and maintain signs on and along the rights-of-way of highways under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Transportation Commission indicating directions to or the location of churches, synagogues, temples or other established places of worship whenever no other place for such signs is suitable or available off of the right-of-way.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
