AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM TRUST FUND TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM FOR THE PURPOSE OF REMODELING, CONSTRUCTING AND FURNISHING OFFICE FACILITIES AND CONSTRUCTING A PARKING FACILITY FOR THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM, FOR FISCAL YEARS 2000 AND 2001.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be

necessary, is appropriated out of the Public Employees' Retirement System Trust Fund to the Board of Trustees of the Public Employees' Retirement System for the period beginning upon the passage of this act and ending June 30, 2001 $7,750,000.00.

SECTION 2. The funds appropriated by this act are for the purpose of remodeling the existing retirement building located at 429 Mississippi Street in Jackson, Mississippi. Those funds also may be used to construct, equip and furnish additional office space at that location, and may be used to construct a multilevel parking facility on the site at that location.

SECTION 3. The funds appropriated by this act shall be deposited into a special fund that is established by this act, which shall be known as the Public Employees' Retirement System Building Fund and which shall be administered by the Board of Trustees of the Public Employees' Retirement System. All expenditures from the Public Employees' Retirement System Building Fund shall be made by the Board of Trustees of the Public Employees' Retirement System only for the purposes specified in Section 2 of this act.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
