AN ACT TO PROHIBIT BODY PIERCING OF PERSONS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE WITHOUT PARENTAL PERMISSION; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. No person shall pierce any part of the body of a person under the age of eighteen (18) years unless such person under the age of eighteen (18) years provides written permission of a parent or guardian. Any person who violates this section shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine of not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00).

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
