AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 49-15-19, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO EXTEND THE DATE OF THE REPEALER ON THE AUTHORIZATION OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MARINE RESOURCES TO EMPLOY LEGAL COUNSEL AFTER CONSULTING WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 49-15-19, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

49-15-19. The Attorney General shall be counsel and attorney for the commission and department and shall provide legal services as may be requested. The executive director is authorized to employ legal counsel, after consultation with the Attorney General, as may be necessary or appropriate for the operation of the department. This section shall repeal on July 1, 2001.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
