A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. MARY JO WEDGEWORTH UPON RECEIVING THE "MRS. LYNDON B. JOHNSON AWARD." 

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Wedgeworth received the "Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson Award" in recognition of her lifetime of services by Keep America Beautiful; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Wedgeworth has devoted her life to God, her family, her community and serving others; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Wedgeworth worked extensively with 4-H Clubs and Extension Homemaker Clubs from 1934-1997; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Wedgeworth served as State President of Volunteer 4-H Adult Leaders, President of State 4-H Advisory Council and President of Mississippi Extension Homemaker Clubs; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Wedgeworth served as a Red Cross volunteer for 55 years and served as a Red Cross Board member for 27 years; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Wedgeworth has shared love of nature and wild flowers with thousands by presenting an average of two programs a month for 23 years; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Wedgeworth served as president of the Garden Clubs of Mississippi in 1987-1989 and was editor of the "Miss Gardener" publication from 1991-1993; and

WHEREAS, she is a nationally accredited Master Flower Show Judge; and

WHEREAS, Mary Jo Wedgeworth has volunteered and served her community through numerous organizations; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Mississippi Legislature to recognize the noteworthy accomplishment and service of the citizens of the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we congratulate Mary Jo Wedgeworth upon receiving the "Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson Award" and commend her for her lifetime of service to others.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Mary Jo Wedgeworth.
