A RESOLUTION COMMENDING LYNDA G. TUCK UPON HER RETIREMENT AS SPONSORED PROGRAMS ADMINISTRATOR AT MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY. 

WHEREAS, Lynda G. Tuck has recently announced her retirement from Mississippi State University as Sponsored Programs Administrator; and

WHEREAS, Lynda G. Tuck began her career serving in several secretarial/clerical positions in private industry, including Secretary to the Vice-President of Purchasing of Winston Industries, Inc., and Secretary to the President of New Dimension Homes, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, in 1973, Lynda G. Tuck accepted her first position at Mississippi State University by serving as Secretary to the Director of the Department of Engineering Technology; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career at Mississippi State University, Lynda G. Tuck served in various positions, including Administrative Secretary, Department of Aerospace Engineering (1977-1981); Executive Secretary, College of Arts and Sciences (1981-1987); Administrative Secretary, Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service (1987-1988); and Business Manager, College of Engineering (1988-1991); and

WHEREAS, from January 1, 1992, through June 30, 1998, Lynda G. Tuck served as the Sponsored Programs Administrator at Mississippi State University, and until September of 1994, was also the University Patent Officer for the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration; and

WHEREAS, Lynda G. Tuck has attended two years of college and has attended numerous seminars, including training in the areas of computers, research administration, office management, supervision, contract negotiation, pre- and post-award accounting for research personnel, contracting, subcontracting, patents, and license agreements; and

WHEREAS, Lynda G. Tuck is a member of the Society of Research Administrators and the Association of University Technology Managers, and has attended many professional organizational meetings, including Society of Research Administrators Annual Meeting (1993, 1995, 1996, 1998); Office of Federal Programs Spring Meeting (1993, 1992); and Association of University Technology Managers Licensing Course (1992); and

WHEREAS, Lynda G. Tuck is an active member of Center Grove Baptist Church, serves on various church committees and teaches Sunday school; and

WHEREAS, Lynda G. Tuck is married to Al Tuck and has one child, Bethany; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend its citizens for their many years of dedicated service:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Lynda G. Tuck upon her retirement from Mississippi State University as Sponsored Programs Administrator.
