Senate Resolution 21

(As Adopted by Senate)

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF MISSISSIPPI SENATE STAFF MEMBER MR. T.C. WARD. 

WHEREAS, our colleague and Director of the Mississippi Senate Legislative Services Office, Mr. T.C. Ward, departed this world on July 2, 1997, after a distinguished 24-year career of service to the Mississippi State Legislature; and

WHEREAS, he was a native son of the State of Mississippi, he attended the University of the South where he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, he obtained a law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law, and soon thereafter he began working for the Senate as a staff attorney; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his ability and dedication, he was appointed Director of the Senate Legislative Services Office in 1977 and served in that capacity until his death; and

WHEREAS, T.C. was admired and respected by his colleagues and members of the Legislature, both from the House of Representatives and from the Senate, for his comprehensive knowledge of the legislative process, its rules, and also for his love of the Legislature as an institution; and

WHEREAS, his direct and honest approach to his work earned him the reputation for complete fairness; and

WHEREAS, T.C.'s contributions will be long remembered by his colleagues and legislative leaders:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and public service of our friend and colleague, T.C. Ward, extend our deepest sympathies to his family and staff members in Mississippi, and we direct that a plaque in his memory be displayed at an appropriate location in the Senate chamber.
