Senate Resolution 18

A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING MAGNOLIA BIBLE COLLEGE IN KOSCIUSKO, MISSISSIPPI, UPON THE INAUGURATION OF DR. GARY KIRKENDALL AS THE THIRD PRESIDENT OF THE COLLEGE, AND PROCLAIMING MARCH 6, 1998, AS "MAGNOLIA BIBLE COLLEGE DAY." 

WHEREAS, Dr. Gary Wayne Kirkendall is being inaugurated as the third president of Magnolia Bible College in appropriate ceremonies to be held on March 6, 1998; and

WHEREAS, Magnolia Bible College in Kosciusko, Mississippi, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Theology degrees, and is also accredited by the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (AABC); and

WHEREAS, Magnolia Bible College has a diverse student body, with both foreign and domestic students, consisting of over 30% minority students; and

WHEREAS, Magnolia Bible College has been awarded the Enrollment Growth Award by the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges for the years 1994 through 1995, and again for the years 1996 through 1997; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kirkendall graduated from Magnolia Bible College in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible; in 1990 he completed his Master of Arts in Ministry from Oklahoma Christian University, and in 1997 he was awarded the Degree of Honorary Doctor of Laws by Freed-Hardeman University. He is married to the former Donna McCool and they have two children, Daniel and Kara; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this excellent Mississippi institution and its new president:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, That we do hereby congratulate Magnolia Bible College in Kosciusko, Mississippi, upon the inauguration of its third president, Dr. Gary Wayne Kirkendall, and do hereby proclaim March 6, 1998, as "Magnolia Bible College Day" in Mississippi.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Dr. Kirkendall on behalf of Magnolia Bible College and be made available to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
