A SENATE RESOLUTION COMMENDING WILLIAM REVIES OF JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, PRINCIPAL OF BLACKBURN JR. HIGH SCHOOL, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP IN PUBLIC EDUCATION. 

WHEREAS, Mr. William H. Revies of Jackson, Mississippi, an outstanding school administrator has been Principal of Blackburn Jr. High School in the Jackson Municipal Separate School District since 1991, and was Vice-Principal of Forest Hill High School from 1986-1991; and

WHEREAS, he received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Jackson State University, and attended the Principal's Institute at Millsaps College in 1993; and

WHEREAS, among several leadership and community participation citations, he has received the following service awards: Congressional Citation from Congressman Bennie Thompson-1996, Outstanding Service Award for Leadership from WLBT-TV3-1996, Certificate for Outstanding Leadership from Lt. Governor Ronnie Musgrove and Senator Alice Harden, Service Appreciation Award from Dr. James Lyons-President of Jackson State University-1996, Congratulatory Letter for Outstanding Service from President Bill Clinton, Certificate for Outstanding Administrator-American Education Week from Jackson State University-1994; and

WHEREAS, his civic involvements and professional organizations include the following: Men's Club of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Free & Accepted Masons-M.W. Stringer Grand Lodge, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity-Mu Sigma Chapter, Grove Park Duffers Club, Member of 100 Black Men, Member of Pi Lamda Theta, Member of National Association of Secondary School Principals, Member of National Middle Schools Association, Member of MS Association of Secondary School Principals, Vice-President of Council of Public Schools 1995-1996, Member of Teacher Education Council-Jackson State University; and

WHEREAS, William and his wife Goldia have 3 children: Michell, Lisa and Kesha, and it is with great pride that we recognize the outstanding service of this dedicated educator-administrator:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend William H. Revies of Jackson, Mississippi, Principal of Blackburn Jr. High School, for his outstanding leadership in public education in Mississippi and in his community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to Mr. Revies and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
