Senate Concurrent Resolution 647

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE LAKE HIGH SCHOOL "LADY HORNETS" GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACH BILL INGERSOLL FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1997-1998 SEASON. 

WHEREAS, the Lake High School "Lady Hornets" Girls Basketball Team finished the 1997-1998 season with an outstanding record of 20 wins and 10 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Hornets did very well in tournament play this year, winning the Division VIII Class 1A Championship, finishing third in the South State Class 1A Championship Tournament and losing to Ingomar in the first round of the Class 1A State Championship Tournament; and

WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon team members in recognition of their fine and dedicated play, and team roster is as follows: Nicole Cox, Odena Cox, Kim Gammage, Sharlo Harris, Sharitha Ingrum, Tina Lay, Chasity Ledbetter, Treshia Lee, Brandy McClendon, Tiffany Pickett, Tamantha Qualls, Lenise Robinson, Statistician April Harris, Video-Cameraman Brian Beckwith, and Team Managers Herbert Townsend, Kim Cox and Tara Lee; and

WHEREAS, the "Lady Hornets" have been well coached and inspired by Head Coach Bill Ingersoll and Assistant Coaches Mark Girard and Wyatt Tullos, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the team has developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect a great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to their school, county and state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Lake High School "Lady Hornets" Girls Basketball Team and their coach Bill Ingersoll for their outstanding 1997-1998 season and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Principal Huey Stone of Lake High School, Coach Ingersoll and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
