Senate Concurrent Resolution 643

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING FIRST SERGEANT CHARLES PARKER, THE FIRST NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER IN CHARGE OF THE ARMY NATIONAL GUARD UNIT IN CALHOUN CITY, MISSISSIPPI, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE MISSISSIPPI ARMY NATIONAL GUARD. 

WHEREAS, First Sergeant Charles Parker, Company B, 223rd Combat Engineer Battalion, is the full-time non-commissioned Officer in Charge of this unit of the Mississippi Army National Guard which is stationed in Calhoun City, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Parker is retiring from the Mississippi Army National Guard after over 33 years of meritorious service; and

WHEREAS, his leadership ability is outstanding and he has earned the respect of his peers and subordinates and has always maintained a positive attitude and consistently gone beyond the call of duty for his guard unit; and

WHEREAS, through Sergeant Parker's motivation and hard work he helped bring his unit's strength from 90 personnel to 140 after reorganization; his technical, tactical, administrative and leadership skills were the directing factor in insuring that the company receive high evaluations in command inspections; he also has led by example by scoring over the 300 point maximum score in the past 14 Army Physical Fitness Tests administered to him; and

WHEREAS, there is not a better soldier in the Mississippi Army National Guard and his determination to achieve excellence has earned for him and his National Guard unit the respect and admiration of the Legislature and of the citizenry of this state:

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby honor and congratulate First Sergeant Charles Parker, Company B, 223rd Combat Engineer Battalion, Mississippi National Guard, Calhoun City, Mississippi, upon his retirement after over 33 years of meritorious service.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be forwarded to unit Commander Geoffrey Yoste for presentation to Sergeant Parker, and that copies be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
