A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING WILLIAM M. "MITCH" STENNETT UPON BEING SELECTED AS MISSISSIPPI'S OUTSTANDING ECONOMIC DEVELOPER FOR 1997-98. 

WHEREAS, William M. "Mitch" Stennett was named as Mississippi's Outstanding Economic Developer for 1997-98; and

WHEREAS, William M. "Mitch" Stennett received the Harry A. Martin Award recognizing his outstanding achievement in the field of community and economic development; and

WHEREAS, William M. "Mitch" Stennett has served as President of the Economic Development Authority of Jones County since 1990; and

WHEREAS, William M. "Mitch" Stennett has helped lead economic expansion in his region by being an instrumental player in facilitating the creation of over 7,000 jobs and capital investment of more than $300 Million; and

WHEREAS, William M. "Mitch" Stennett's commitment to his community goes far beyond the requirements of his job; and

WHEREAS, William M. "Mitch" Stennett considers the betterment of Mississippi communities a "calling" rather than just a job; and

WHEREAS, William M. "Mitch" Stennett's commitment to education is evidenced by his service on the Board of Directors of the Association for Excellence in Education and his service on Booster clubs for his sons' high school soccer, tennis and basketball teams; and

WHEREAS, William M. "Mitch" Stennett is a faithful member of his church where he serves as Chairman of the Administrative Board; and

WHEREAS, William M. "Mitch" Stennett is married to the former Jamie Reeder of Pontotoc and they have two sons, Bill and Jim:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend William M. "Mitch" Stennett upon receiving the Harry A. Martin Award recognizing him as Mississippi's Outstanding Economic Developer for 1997-98 and wish him continued success in his endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to William M. "Mitch" Stennett.
