A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO COMMEND THE NATCHEZ HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOGS FOOTBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 1997 SEASON. 

WHEREAS, the Natchez High School Football Team finished the 1997 season with an outstanding record of 11 wins and 3 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Bulldogs capped the 1997 season by winning the Region 3, Class 5-A Championship and finishing as the runner-up in the South State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the diligent effort of these fine young men enabled them to fully tap their athletic abilities and achieve their season objectives; and

WHEREAS, the Natchez High School Bulldogs were well coached by Coach Robert Raines and Assistant Coaches James Woodard, Bert Smith, Ernest Fields, Elbert Lyles, Wilbert Whitley, Robert Taylor, Cary Shively, Royce Foster and Paul Bacon; and

WHEREAS, individual honors were bestowed upon Clarence Parker (1st Team All-State, MVP Kick Return, MS/Al All-Star Game); Marco Minor (2nd Team All-State, All-District, Miss. All-Star Game); Greg Carter (Honorable Mention All-State); Brad Dean (Co-MVP Defense); Larry Wright (All-District); Sylvester Wilson (All-District), Shaun Irving (All-District); Joseph Rabotte (All-District); Tavarus Turner (All-District); Marcus D. Green (All-District); Hunter Ogden (All-District Honorable Mention); Joshua Walton (All-District Honorable Mention); Cedric Owens (All-District Honorable Mention); Marcus S. Green (All-District Honorable Mention); Barry White (All-District Honorable Mention); James Green (All-District Honorable Mention); John T. Gay (All-District Honorable Mention); and Marshall Dixon (All-District Honorable Mention); and

WHEREAS, the Bulldogs played together as a team with a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to commend the outstanding achievements of the youth of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Natchez High School Football Team for its outstanding 1997 season.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Natchez High School and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
