A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MARISA TRAYLOR FOR BEING SELECTED AS ONE OF THE STATE'S TOP STUDENT VOLUNTEERS. 

WHEREAS, Marisa Traylor, a student at Chastain Middle School, has achieved national recognition for her exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 1998 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and

WHEREAS, this prestigious award honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and

WHEREAS, Marisa Traylor earned this award by giving generously of her time, energy and talents to the service of others; and

WHEREAS, Marisa Traylor volunteered at Willowood Developmental Center to work with children with physical and behavioral disabilities; and

WHEREAS, this extraordinary young lady exemplifies the spirit of community; and

WHEREAS, the dedication and commitment of young people like Marisa Traylor ensures a bright future for success of our communities and the state, and overall vitality of the American society; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend the noteworthy accomplishments and contributions of the state's youth:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Marisa Traylor for receiving the Prudential Spirit of Community Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions of volunteer service, leadership and community, and wish her success in her endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Marisa Traylor.
