A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE, ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND PUBLIC SERVICE OF KEMPER COUNTY SHERIFF MIKE MCKEE AND EXPRESSING SYMPATHY TO HIS WIFE AND FAMILY UPON HIS DEATH. 

WHEREAS, On August 9, 1997, the Sheriff of Kemper County Mike McKee was killed while in the performance of his duty; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Mike McKee of Kemper County was born on November 1, 1954, was a native and life long resident of Kemper County, Mississippi and graduated from West Kemper High School; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff McKee was a member of the Vardaman Baptist Church where he served as Youth Director and was the President of the Men's Brotherhood; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff McKee served as a deputy sheriff of Kemper County for eight years before being elected as Sheriff of Kemper County in 1996; and

WHEREAS, A loving and devoted husband, he was happily married to Pam Gray McKee; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Mike Mckee was universally respected and treated everyone with the respect that he felt every human being deserved no matter what the situation; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff McKee practiced his Christian beliefs in his daily life, a fact that was particularly evident in the way that he performed his duties as Sheriff of Kemper County; and

WHEREAS, His loss is keenly felt by his family and the county and state he served so well; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff McKee will always be remembered for his devotion to his family, his beliefs and his profession:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life, accomplishments and public service of Sheriff Mike McKee of Kemper County, Mississippi, and extend our deepest sympathy to his wife and his family upon his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Pam Gray McKee and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
