A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE JOINT RULES OF THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BY ADDING A NEW RULE TO PRESCRIBE THE FORM OF AMENDMENTS IN BILLS AND RESOLUTIONS.  

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That the Joint Rules of the Senate and the House are amended by adding a new rule to read as follows:

_____. Beginning with the 1999 Regular Legislative Session, in any bill or resolution proposing a change to an existing law, constitutional section or other provision: (a) a change which eliminates (without replacing) existing language shall be indicated by typewritten strikeouts of the language being eliminated; (b) a change which adds new language shall be indicated by typewritten underlining of the new language; and (c) a change which eliminates existing language by replacing it with new language shall be indicated by typewritten strikeouts of the language being replaced followed by typewritten underlining of the new language.
