AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE SHERIFF OF OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI TO REGULATE THE OFF-DUTY WORK HOURS OF THE DEPUTIES EMPLOYED BY HIM; TO PROVIDE THAT THE SHERIFF MAY PRESCRIBE BY REGULATION THE APPROPRIATE WEARING OF ANY BADGE OR UNIFORM WHILE DEPUTIES ARE EMPLOYED WHILE OFF-DUTY; TO PROVIDE THAT THE COUNTY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ACTIONS TAKEN BY DEPUTY SHERIFFS WHEN THEY ARE EMPLOYED WHILE OFF-DUTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

 

SECTION 1. (1) The Sheriff of Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, may regulate by means of personnel regulation, the off-duty work hours of the deputies employed by him, and may further prescribe by regulation the appropriate wearing of any badge or uniform while deputies are employed when they are off-duty.

(2) The Sheriff of Oktibbeha County, the members of the Board of Supervisors of Oktibbeha County and Oktibbeha County shall not be liable for any actions taken by deputy sheriffs while they are employed when they are off-duty.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
